I started to replace just the heating element, but found this unit with a new housing, thermostat and thermistor as one. The heating element went out in my Samsung dryer. Ladies: I replaced this on my own, by myself, without a 'guy' to help me. Also, replacing the entire component ensures I don' t have to do another repair soon to replace dead thermostats/fuses which saves me time. Because I' m in an apartment, I don' t have a need for some of the tools required to replace thermostats (table vise, rivet pop gun, ohmmeter, etc). I wanted to do an overhaul on the dryer so I purchased the entire heating element housing w/thermostats. I did not test all of the elements prior to purchase. Assumed it was one of the three operating components in this assembly. Installed in my compatible Samsung dryer that was not producing heat. Allowed me to complete this DIY repair on budget.
